Waterproofing is not just an extra coat of paint. A proper job involves cleaning the surface, filling cracks with polymer-modified mortar, applying a bonding primer, then 2–3 coats of an elastomeric or cementitious membrane. The whole surface then cures for 3–7 days before it is exposed to water.
