Most entry-level ac technician jobs don't exist on big job portals; they're found by word of mouth, local hardware shops, or by registering on no-commission worker directories. This guide tells you where entry-level ac technicians actually find their first paid work in 2026, what the realistic starting salary is, and the fastest path from zero experience to independent earning. ## What's the starting salary for an entry-level ac technician in India? A fresher ac technician (0-6 months experience) earns ₹577-750/day working as a helper, or ₹15,000-₹21,000/month on fixed-salary jobs at contractors / small businesses. After 6-12 months of hands-on work, you move to ₹866-1731/day or ₹22,500-45,000/month. Metros (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore) pay 20-35% more than tier-2 cities for the same experience. ## 5 real sources of entry-level ac technician jobs (ranked by speed) 1. **Register free on Solve24** — list your ac technician profile, customers find you by city/skill, you call them directly. No agency fee, no commission. Takes 2 minutes, works even without prior experience if you honestly mark yourself as entry-level or "learning". 2. **Apprentice under a senior ac technician** — the oldest and still fastest path. Walk into 3-5 local ac technician shops within 5 km. Say you want to learn and will work at helper rates (₹250-500/day). Government certificate, opens factory + commercial AC jobs 3. **Local hardware/manifold gauge set shops** — these shops see all the senior ac technicians in the area. Ask the shop owner if any ac technicians need a helper. 1 in 5 enquiries lands something. 4. **ITI placement** — if you did the ITI Refrigeration & AC course, your institute has a placement cell. Starting salary via ITI placement: ₹15,000-19,500/month, usually with a government contractor or large builder. 5. **WhatsApp community groups** — join your city's ac technician / contractor WhatsApp groups (ask at any hardware shop for the admin). Jobs post daily — be the first to reply, send a photo + ask for a trial day. ## Can you get an entry-level ac technician job without any experience? Yes — but as a HELPER, not an independent ac technician. Helper jobs are paid at ₹250-500/day and are the standard first step. Expect to carry tools, hold ladders, run errands, and watch for the first 2-3 months. By month 4-6 you'll be doing simple ac technician tasks under supervision. By month 12 most helpers can take small independent jobs. Get a brand certification (Voltas, LG, Daikin) in your first 6 months. Brand-certified techs charge 30-40% more and get free leads from brand service apps. ## What tools do you need for an entry-level ac technician job? For a helper role you need almost nothing — the senior ac technician brings tools and lets you use them. For your first independent small jobs, a ₹₹2,500-5,000 starter kit is enough: Manifold gauge set, Vacuum pump, Multimeter (digital). Full beginner kit costs ₹3,000-5,000 from any local hardware shop — don't buy from Amazon, local shops give better prices and will let you return unused tools in the first 30 days. ## Why most new ac technicians struggle to find their first job AC technician work is seasonal (only summer). Summer (March-July) is peak with 60% of annual revenue, but installation, AMC contracts, and commercial service (offices, shops) provide year-round income. Pre-monsoon servicing in Sept-Oct is also high-demand. The second reason freshers struggle: they look for jobs on Naukri / Indeed / general job portals which don't carry ac technician roles — these are white-collar portals. AC Technician jobs are found through hyperlocal networks: word of mouth, hardware shops, and newer worker directories like Solve24 that are purpose-built for skilled-work discovery. ## How long until you're earning ₹75,000+/month? Helper / cleaner (0-1 year) → Service technician (1-3 years) → Installation specialist (3-5 years, ₹1500-4000/install) → AMC contractor (5+ years, holds 50-200 annual contracts). Timeline is honest: year 1 you're a helper (₹15,000/mo), year 2-3 you work independently (₹45,000/mo), year 4+ you specialise and can hit ₹75,000+/mo. The ac technicians who get there fastest are the ones who register online (customers find them), ask for reviews after every job (ratings = premium pricing), and specialise within 2 years. ## Register as a ac technician on Solve24 — free, 2 minutes If you're a ac technician looking for your first (or next) paying job: register on Solve24.
